Here’s Mike Krzyzewski’s Excuse For Not “Dabbing” At Duke Basketball Camp

Last season, it seems like everyone was “dabbing,” including head coaches. Roy Williams, Dabo Swinney, even Nick Saban participated in the phenomenon. It seems like another legendary coach, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, has no desire to continue the trend.  Coach K was asked by a basketball camper to hit the dab, and he came up with a creative, albeit fake, excuse.  Camper: “Coach K can you dab?” Coach K: “Oh yeah I use to but it’s out of style now. I’m all about current.” — Duke Basketball (@dukeblueplanet) June 28, 2016 We all know Coach K likes to do a little dancing, so maybe he’ll hop on the bandwagon for the next craze.

Kendrick Nunn situation further confirms NCAA’s blind eyes

If a 10-year-old girl teases her 5-year-old brother, he might counter with physical contact, resulting in a soft, harmless slap. Following a stern rebuke from his mother or father, little Timmy starts to cry. The goal of his parents then shifts towards putting a smile back on their son’s face, as if the incident never occurred. Why should the NCAA provide a similar cushion for 20-year-old Kendrick Nunn, who transferred from University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana to Oakland University after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge? In mid-March, Nunn — accused of striking a woman in the head, shoving her to the floor, and dumping water on her amidst an argument — was charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery. In May, he pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor domestic battery, which will be expunged from his record if he completes 100 hours of community service, a 26-week partner abuse prevention program, and composes a letter of apology to the victim, under ...

Indiana Basketball: Yogi and Troy’s New Home for Now

The 2016 NBA Draft was heralded as a two-man draft. LSU’s Ben Simmons and Duke’s Brandon Ingram were the clear-cut favorites to be the first and second overall picks. Every pick after number two was up in the air, and it was assumed that every team’s big board would be changing right up until they were on the clock. Former Indiana Basketball standout point guard Yogi Ferrell and junior forward Troy Williams both had their names in the draft, but were rated as late second round prospects at best. Both ultimately ended up going undrafted, but were able to secure spots for the NBA’s Summer League. Ferrell, Indiana’s all time leader in games played and started, as well as the program’s all time leader in assists, reportedly turned down a few offers from other organizations in order to sign a partial guarantee with the Brooklyn Nets. Williams, the 6’7” forward, signed a Summer League deal with the Phoenix Suns. These deals in no way promise either player a roster spot for next year’s NBA season,

Pat Summit's health is reportedly in decline

The family of legendary Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt is “preparing for the worst,” according to USA Today.  Summitt, 64, announced in early 2011 that she had been diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type. She has been living in a retirement facility since late January.  The eight-time national champion head coach is “struggling” and, according to USA Today, those close to her aren’t sure if she’ll “last a day, a month, or a year.” Praying for Coach @patsummitt and her family tonight! #PrayforPat — Josh Dobbs (@josh_dobbs1) June 26, 2016 Praying for @patsummitt. Report: Kyrie Irving Will Play For Mike Krzyzewski And USA Basketball In The Summer Olympics

Many of the top basketball players in the country have turned down the opportunity to play in this summer’s Olympics, but one of the heroes of the NBA Finals will be there to run the point. Kyrie Irving has reportedly accepted an invitation to play for his former collegiate coach, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, for Team USA in Brazil. ESPN sources say Kyrie Irving has accepted an invitation from USA Basketball to play on this summer’s Olympic team — Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 25, 2016 Team USA was in dire need of a point guard, so this is very good news for Coach K and his staff. He was the MVP of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, averaging 12.1 points and 3.6 assists through the tournament. Jay Bilas: NCAA should 'let players come back after draft'

The 2016 NBA Draft wasn’t a great one for the college basketball player.  Nearly all of the top college prospects — save for the three at the top — went lower than expected. A bunch of players who declared early — Kentucky’s Tyler Ulis, Maryland’s Diamond Stone, Michigan State’s Deyonta Davis — slipped into the second round. Many more — Maryland’s Robert Carter, Texas’ Prince Ibeh, Florida’s Dorian Finney-Smith, N.C. State’s Cat Barber — went undrafted.  ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas sent a message to the NCAA this morning: Let players come back to college after the draft.  His idea: Instead of having NBA teams “draft and stash” players in Europe or the NBA D-league, they can stash them in college.  NCAA needs to wake up. Let players come back AFTER the draft, let NBA teams "draft and stash" players IN COLLEGE. It's done in other sports! — Jay Bilas (@JayBilas) June 24, 2016 There are some complications surrounding this idea — Will the players that g

Photos: Syracuse G Malachi Richardson Rocking Bold Suit-And-Sock Combination Tonight

One of the underrated aspects of NBA Draft night is the high fashion on display from the prospects in attendance. Guys know they have one shot to look good for the cameras, and a bad draft night suit will live on in infamy forever. Syracuse guard Malachi Richardson is a near-lock to be chosen in the first round tonight, perhaps as high as the lottery. For his formal wear, Richardson is going with a bold-looking reddish-crimson jacket, black shirt, bow tie, pants and shoes and magenta socks.  .@KingMali23 : “Man, this suit is fire. I’m going to impress people for sure. It fits me perfectly.” #DraftStyle pic.twitter.com/94wjdrnmfE — NBPA (@TheNBPA) June 23, 2016 Richardson will certainly stand out with his look. Do you give it a thumbs up or thumbs down?

Dan Le Batard critical of John Calipari's appearance on ESPN

John Calipari is all over ESPN today.  Kentucky’s men’s basketball coach, on the day of the NBA Draft, is going through ESPN’s “Car Wash.” He was already on "Mike & Mike" and "First Take" and is scheduled to be on "SportsCenter," "Russillo & Kanell," "His & Hers" and "Highly Questionable."  Had a great time co-hosting @MikeAndMike with @KarlTowns and @Espngreeny this morning. Next up is @FirstTake. pic.twitter.com/Wyf16kMDoj — John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) June 23, 2016 This doesn’t sit too well with ESPN’s Dan Le Batard.  The Miami native went on a bit of a rant about ESPN’s promotion of Coach Cal on "The Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz" earlier this morning.  “This is unseemly. It is,” Le Batard said. “This is ESPN being in on the deal. And there’s no getting around this. I can moralize and gasbag all I want, but this is ESPN in on the deal. A texter writes in, ‘Dan, any thoughts on what ESPN is doing today with Calipari? It comes off like a gros

Photo: Kentucky Might Need Another NBA Alumni Board After Tonight’s Draft

This past season, Kentucky had a whopping 22 former players play in an NBA regular season game. Not surprisingly, the Wildcats are expected to have at least three players drafted tonight: point guard Tyler Ulis, shooting guard Jamal Murray and power forward Skal Labissiere. The wild card potential pick tonight is forward Alex Poythress, who has impressed NBA teams in workouts. Kentucky is expecting Poythress to be selected at some point, and are anticipating needing to expand their NBA alumni board when he gets chosen. This is just half of our current pros in the NBA board. We're going to need a new board if all goes according to plan tonight. A photo posted by Kentucky Men's Basketball (@kentuckymbb) on Jun 23, 2016 at 5:56am PDT Needing a new NBA alumni board is a decent problem to have.

From the Final Four to the NBA Draft: How Syracuse's Michael Gbinije Prepared For the Next Step

When the floor cleared and Michael Gbinije slinked out of Reliant Stadium, he couldn't bear to look at a basketball. His Syracuse Orangemen's run had been a thing of dreams and now it was over, ending in a 83-66 loss to North Carolina in the Final Four. Syracuse shouldn't have even been there, not really, after losing 13 games in the regular season and losing in the first round of the ACC tournament. But they made March Madness as a 10 seed and didn't stop winning until the Final Four. Gbinije, a third-year starter, was a major part of that. A 6-foot-7, 200 pound guard out of Richrmond, Virginia, he averaged 17.5 points per game and shot almost 40 percent from deep. With his college season having abruptly come to an end, it was time for Gbinije to quickly turn his attention to preparing for the NBA Draft. We caught up with Gbinije to chat about what his life has been like since April, and how he's gotten ready for one of the biggest nights of his life, the 2016 NBA Draft. STACK...
