Billy Joel was born in the Bronx, NY, and at a young age started studying playing the piano after seeing the Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. IN his early career he was part of several bands like The Lost Souls, The Hassles and Attila. In 1973, the great Clive Owen took notice of Joel’s piano skills and signed him to his new label. Later that year they released his debut album, Piano Man. The album contained his most famous single ever, “Piano Man”.

The singles "Just the Way You Are," "Movin' Out" and "Only the Good Die Young," off his The Stranger album put Joel in music superstardom. Over his career he has had a total of 33 Top 40 singles, three of which reached #1. Joel won his first Grammy in 1979 for the single "Just the Way You Are."

Billy Joel is an American singer and pianist. Joel rose to fame in 1973 with his single ‘Piano Man’. He has had 40 Top 40 singles and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Billy Joel will play his 31st concert at Madison Square Garden this July.

Joel became Madison Square Garden’s first-ever musical resident in 2013.  At that time he said he’d play the famed venue once per month as part of the Time Warner Cable Concert Series as long as fans kept buying tickets.  Now he’s considered one of the building’s franchises, along with the New York Knicks, Rangers and Liberty. Billy Joel to Perform at Nassau Coliseum Before Rennovation
       

Billy Joel will be performing at the Nassau Coliseum on August 4th before the famous venue shuts down for renovation.

Billy Joel’s last string of headlining shows at Nassau Coliseum was in 1998. He sold out nine concerts and set the venue’s record for the most sellouts in one year.

The venue will reopen in 2016.

Tickets go on sale on May 1st.
