Like many rock and electronic acts this past decade, Twenty One Pilots carved out their own niche before finding major label success. The band, with a pop-rock style influenced by electronic music, was formed in 2009 by front man Tyler Joseph, Josh Dun, and some friends from college in Columbus, OH. Joseph picked the name of the band after being inspired by the plot of Arthur Miller\u2019s \u201cAll My Sons\u201d. The group self-released a self-titled debut album that same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all that power behind their major label releases, Twenty One Pilots saw Vessel reach No. 58 on the Billboard 200, while single \u201cHolding on to You\u201d became their first charting track, at No. 11 on the Alternative charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A handful of tours increased their profile, including headlining with the Neon Trees and Walk The Moon and opening for Fall Out Boy. So, by the time their next major album Blurryface came out in 2015, the release shot to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, while their third single \u201cStressed Out\u201d peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To continue capitalizing off that success, Twenty One Pilots started their own \u201cEmotional Roadshow World Tour\u201d and contributed a song to the Suicide Squad soundtrack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
