In 1926, Chicago, IL saw the birth of the basketball exhibition team, The Harlem Globetrotters. They kicked off their career performing exhibition games before dances as the Savoy Five in Harlem, NY. Several years later, the team was renamed the “New York Harlem Globe Trotters” and began touring the United States playing exhibition basketball games in cities and towns nationwide. Albert Pullins and Inman Jackson introduced us to the showboating and dribbling skills for which the team is currently known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1939, they started playing professional basketball games against teams like the New York Rens and Chicago Bruins. The team also won a couple times against the Minneapolis Lakers, now known as the Los Angeles Lakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
