About Billy Crystal
William Edward Crystal, Billy Crystal, was born on March 14, 1948, in New York City. Crystal attended Marshall University on a baseball scholarship, however, he eventually left for New York University Tisch School of the Arts and graduated in 1970.
After leaving NYU, Billy Crystal hit the stand-up circuit touring and opening for Barry Manilow. In 1984, Crystal joined the Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast and landed his first successful television role as Jodie Dallas on the series Soap. His most famous skit at SNL was a parody of director Fernando Lamas. Fernando's catchphrase "You look...mahvelous!" has since become a part of pop culture.
Billy Crystal became famous with his role as Miracle Max in the 1987 film The Princess Bride, 1989's When Harry Met Sally, and 1991's City Slickers, which Crystal also produced. In recent years, he has starred in hit movies such as Analyze This, Analyze That, and providing the voice of Mike Wazowski in Monsters, Inc. Crystal is also an eight-time host of the Academy Awards.
